About

Drive or Ride? answers a question every Sri Lankan driver asks: should I take my own vehicle, or is a PickMe or Uber actually cheaper for this trip? Enter where you're going, pick your vehicle and check the fuel price. The app works out what the drive will cost you and puts it side by side with estimated tuk, bike and car fares. What it takes into account: • Live routes and traffic, so a trip at rush hour costs more fuel than the same trip at night • Weather at your destination for the time you travel, since rain pushes ride fares up • Real-world mileage for about 70 vehicles common in Sri Lanka (kei cars, hybrids, SUVs, vans, EVs, tuks and motorbikes), or enter your own km/L • Current fuel prices, which you can edit PickMe and Uber don't publish fare APIs, so ride fares are modelled from published rates and real trips, and they're clearly labelled as estimates. If you already have a quote from the app, type it in for an exact comparison, and optionally share it anonymously to make the estimates better.
