Your AI shouldn’t just talk about the cut. It should make the cut. Drift is a desktop video editor built from scratch for the agent era. Point Cursor, Claude Code, or any MCP client at it and the agent is in the real timeline — importing clips, trimming, adding effects, writing captions, exporting. Not a chatbot glued to a webpage. A real editor the agent can drive. The rest of the AI is local too. Speech becomes captions. Click a person, lift them off the background. No cloud account. No footage uploaded “for processing.” Your machine does the work. When you want to edit yourself, it still feels like the fun kind of editor: drop in clips, slap on GPU looks, punchy titles, stickers, music-synced templates. Multi-track, multicam, audio tools. What you preview is what you export. No subscription, no watermark, no login wall. Free and open source on Linux, Windows, macOS, and Android. CapCut without the strings. An NLE your agent can actually use.
