RideCharge Checker
Verdict
Worth testing. Riders already complain publicly about surprise charges and double billing with no easy way to dispute inside the apps.
Why
- Many riders manually check bank statements and then tweet or post on Reddit instead of using an official channel.
- A simple app or WhatsApp bot could let users forward receipts and automatically flag price jumps, route deviations, or duplicate charges.
- Dispute templates and one-tap escalation to the company or consumer authority would save time and create a paper trail.
- Founders could start with a no-code tool that works on top of Uber, PickMe, and food delivery apps before building deeper integrations.
- Monetization via small per-dispute fee or premium subscription for frequent users looks feasible.
The Sri Lankan twist
Build it first as a WhatsApp bot so users simply forward the booking and final charge screenshots. Support LankaQR refunds, bank transfer disputes, and cash-on-delivery complaints. Add Sinhala and Tamil interfaces and route checks that include common tourist paths such as Colombo to Bentota or Kandy. Partner with the Consumer Affairs Authority for formal escalation and let the Sri Lankan diaspora use it when visiting home.
